Cathedral Grove

Another stop along the way to Tofino is Cathedral Grove. The name comes from the trees being so tall, they form a roof like a cathedral. It’s quite a beautiful forest. in 2007, it made the list of Canada’ Seven Wonders (according to the CBC). Some of the trees are more than 800 years old and I once saw a picture with 8 people around the trunk holding hands.

It’s not a big park and doesn’t take hours to walk through it. There are shorter and longer trails. However, as I mentioned, it’s on the way to Tofino (not long after Coombs) and right beside the highway. You can park your car, walk through Cathedral Grove and an hour or so later, be back on the road.
