EXP – 309 W Pender Street
Hail to all geeky restaurant lovers out there for EXP is here to answer all your needs. I went to EXP restaurant because one of my friend organized an event there. The restaurant decorated with dark tones and the walls are covered with TVs displaying video games. I recognized Final fantasy and Mario Bros. I am afraid my knowledge of video games was too limited to recognize the rest of them.
The food was good. I ordered the vegetarian flatbread. It consisted of caramelized onions, grilled peppers, goat cheese, balsamic reduction, cherry tomatoes and greens. It was good and easy to digest. Not mind-blowing but it was alright. My favorite part about the menu is that every dish has a game-inspired name. My dish was called the vegeta flatbread. There was also the grilled caesar salad of war and the grilled cheese tactics. Lots of fun name for all the geeks in Vancouver. I then had the Asura’s apple pie: homemade pocket apple pie with gelato from Dolce amore. It was nice and warm. The gelato was a nice contrast to the warm pie.
The service was nice too. The waitress (who happened to have red hair, as in actual red like the little mermaid) was nice and served the food very quickly.
The price were also fair. The flatbread was 11$ and the dessert was 8$. It was alright for a student. 🙂
Overall, the restaurant was ok. It fulfilled my geeky needs, but the food was only alright. I wasn’t mind-blown by the food, but the service was nice and the restaurant is a one-of-a-kind.
