True Confections – 866 Denman Street, Vancouver
As part of a meetup, I went to True Confections on Denman Street. I had already been to the one on Alma and therefore I expected to enjoy excellent food in good company and True Confections live up to my expectations. The restaurant is located on Denman Street which is fill with amazing restaurants going from the Italian restaurant Cosca to Japanese’s Momo sushi and all the way the other Italian restaurant Ciao Bella. True Confections is located right in the middle on Denman Street and people with a sweet craving can easily get there as the number #5 Downtown bus stop 2 min away from the entrance.
I personally like the interior. They always use dark colors for the walls and candles for each table at night. It gives the restaurant a romantic atmosphere. The front counter contains the cakes and the bright display pops against the dark wall catching the attention of the customers as they enter. I always gain 5 pounds when looking at those cakes, but oh, are they worth it. 🙂
I ordered a hot chocolate with a slice of the Devil’s Food. This cake is a dark chocolate cake with icing made of marshmallows. It’s my favorite cake at this restaurant. I haven’t been able to order anything else in the past because I always give in to the chocolate and the marshmallow icing. The hot chocolate was good and had whipped cream on top, but it was hard to finish my cake as I was so full. Maybe next time, I will order a glass of milk instead of a hot chocolate. The cake was succulent as always. The icing was soft and sugary. As for the cake in itself, it’s fluffy and despite the size of the slice, not too heavy on the stomach.
The service was good. The girls are always nice and the food comes in a timely manner. I have never had a bad experience at True Confections and I will definitely come back.
